Area Guide
The hotel is in Strážné, a mountain village lying on a plateau at around 800 meters above sea level. This unusual height gives it its own microclimate and views that are generally better than those from the lower towns in the valleys. Strážné can be considered as a satellite resort of Vrchlabí but with an extremely quiet, village-like atmosphere. The Krkonoše National Park surrounds the area so basically means that nature begins right outside your doorstep! Located almost centrally within town near "Kotva" lift provides perfect convenience for all skiers who dislike traveling to reach slopes.
Strážné is smaller than Špindlerův Mlýn, which can be reached within 20 minutes by car. Something here feels more real; grocery shop in the morning long chats with a bartender over one of his home-distilled spirits at night there is no actual “nightlife.” The pub closes just before midnight and everybody goes to sleep. This place has an excellent location for ski touring or hiking-from-hut-to-hut across ridges higher up toward Snezka (the highest peak) or Rennerovy boudy because, in summer, trails practically start from the hotel toward these destinations so no driving to some trailhead is necessary.
There are private mountain cottages (chalupas) and a few other guesthouses in the immediate neighborhood. The area is safe, pedestrian-friendly, and children can play outdoors because traffic is not heavy within the area. Excellent air quality with no light pollution at night describes this place best; however, since it lies within a mountain village-the terrain happens to be hilly.[38] Slopes form part of pathways all over the village hence walking around means navigating slopes which become very slippery during winter therefore good footwear with grip just to walk from hotel to local shop.
